ftd skating team
For The Day - probably the first band with their own skating team. FTD Team Riders are being sponsored by the band, which means they get all our merch and records for free. With this support the team riders don't have to go naked when skating and also have cool CDs to give to the DJ when doing a contest or to serve as soundtrack for skate video appearances. As soon as we can afford it, we'll also make FTD skateboard decks.Skateboarding has always been closely connected to Punkrock and Hardcore. And so is FTD, at least parts of the band (speaking of skateboarding, our "connection" to Punkrock and Hardcore should be evident...). But because some band members can't skate we'll make others skate for us. Ain't that great?! This is no business shit, this is about fun, passion and friendship.
(Still this also has a rather serious side: Nowadays it seems like bands make biggest efforts in order to get endorsement contracts. When was the last time you visited a band website without sponsor-logos blinking?! What is this all about? Do the sponsors make their music better? Do they rock harder because they give away free back-packs in competitions? Have you ever payed less at a show because there was a huge banner on the wall behind the stage?! It seems like bands think they need to collect these as kinda quality-patches. But hey, if they suck they suck, no matter who their fucking sponsor is!)
Please let me now introduce you to the the Official FTD Team Rider(s):

Heiko Schöller, second to be added to the team, has been a friend of ours for many years. Marc said, he's got the coolest skating style he ever wittnessed. Back in 1997 he ran the Sunrise Mailorder for Hardcore records which was later to become Sunrise Skateboards. This cool underground label should be a familiar name to most Westside kids. Now living in Cologne he runs Concrete Wave Skateboard Online Shop. Together with his sister and some friends he regularly puts up the legendary "Time To Rock Time To Shock" parties in Cologne. Read his questionnaire and check out the pictures of this slaytanic Eifel-jock! |
